Fooling around with another man’s knife indeed. What a post. Blue ribbon. Metal fire and earth elements. Good feng shui. Wise guy!

DURO 6 Arias, Constitution Day 2009 and the Paper Czar
We the editors of The Heron Report present the preamble of the United States Constitution and some items donated by the Paper Czar.
Our own day begins with a kind of preamble. We walk along the creek. We come to the studio and office and and convene with our in-house representatives, including the Paper Czar. We make arrangements.
Breakfast is one of the sweet spots of the day. The bakery frequently employs paper bags. We like to read the printing: brand and size at the top, name and date stamp on the bottom. The stamp reveals who made the bag and when. A creators mark! Here is the work of Arias, from June 29, 2009. We wonder what Arias looks like.
From our preamble along the creek, we report one big heron, airborne from a large sycamore. The big bird swoops large, wingspan big as the Ben Franklin Bridge.

SUPER Hot and Sticky post
Best find: a S U P E R sticker on the bridge Monday morning. Go ahead! Make my day! Humid, morning cool before the big warm-up. Croaking noises from active living breathing herons and and one sentinel.
We have been squirrel fans for a while, now. Has anyone not seen this yet? We encourage you to leave this site at once! But just this once!

Designer Nerds
Neurons happy: Heron on a dead bough: grandaddy of them all, fishing, waiting. View from the road.
Squirrel pops out of a barrel when I make a deposit of litter.
Sunlit scenery. Walk two miles to the eight marker and back, and find a piece of sycamore near the seven. Add the pick of the litter Wonka Nerds box top and voila, today’s rebus. Nerds + give – v = Designer.
Other than that, it’s quiet. Overheard “Research shows…” Something about running half an hour. Meanwhile work on solving world peace. Whose world? Look for the heron on the way back. Might be there. Man and a woman walk with energetic strides and converse in raucous, excited voices, matching in vigor, kind of like the herons make.
Fishing involves patience and timing. Plus location. Pick your spots.

Target This: Lifted Shop!
A little green heron at the locks eludes the trusty lens. This bird is quicker than the eye. Delicate.
While looking for Phillies logo tissue boxes (sold 0ut) at Weis market and Target D”Wyomissing, spotted triangular Kleenex® brand boxes with watermelon and juicy citrus colors. Bought 2. Paid cash. Whoa! $6.34.
New brand with arrow ⁄↑ up & up which I have reorganized and Feng shui placed according to flying star! Up stuff. Go figure! I did it! AH! HA! What a wonderful shelf life. They should notice a jump in sales right away. Wise move.

So reads a strip of paper under the overpass. A signature. Pick of the litter.
When is a tree more like a mushroom? This uprooted, toppled over, sawn to a long stump tree has been left to grow moss and grass. A sculpture, this remnant. Plump mushroom cap and stem.
A heron sounds, satisfying the requirement described in the Peterson Field Guide: Voice: Deep harsh croaks frahnk, frahnk, frahnk.
Heronspotting: One. Location: summit of bare-branched, toppled tree in creek along Tulpehocken Road.
Open conversation of bicyclists: Overheard in Reading
A: ” … asked what his ten year plan was.”
B: “And the response was?”
A: “What ten year plan?”
In the middle of the path in the middle section: sine curves for 1/16 mile. Speak softly and carry a swizzle stick.
Feng shui: It is a ten day! Water.
Also find: 29 sticker and star band aid piece. Tippy top!

Emits Showers of Sparks
Warning! Emits showers of sparks, reads left wing of bee. The bee is cardboard. The bee is found intact on the ground, a perfect specimen. Nearly epic semen.
Sounds like: squirrel-claws. Trapped in trash bin. Hides under picnic plates lightweight bottles. Wedge bottle into /PUSH\ flap: egress.
Heron Monday morning, here on site of mill dam. Nearly egrets.
At upper end, view from metal bridge.
a pathling: X marks the spot?

The Solution, Watson, is a Stroke of Good Luck
More human than avian, Sherlock Holmes would have detected not a Great Blue Heron here today.
One mystery solved however, and that by Candelario, who, when we meet , has just inscribed 36 in the path screenings with the base of his cane. It pleases me to have caught someone in this act. Red handed. Right handed. What’s the difference? The strangest things please me.
”What is that for” I ask.
“It means 736 steps.” he tells me. “I mark where I stop.”
I did not challenge him that only the 3 and the 6 were on the ground. Today is a seven day. Maybe it’s understood.
He marks off the steps.
“You mark off your footsteps?” I say.
“It’s 8,500 steps from red bridge to the canal,” he says. “From the second tree.”
“May I quote you on that?” I say. “Eight thousand, five hundred steps from red bridge to the mill area?
”Yes.”
“How do you feel today?”
“Need to go to the doctor.” he says. “Too much McDonalds; not good, you know.”
He heads back to escape the rising heat and humidity. I head into the teeth of the morning, alone with my thoughts as per usual.
Having completed viewing the 1981 John Waters’ film Polyester on DVD, am reflecting on the Tab Hunter character’s hope for a gold leisure suit ( this is a leisure area, after all). Sniff sniff. Something died in the woods here.
“Animal, vegetable or mineral?” you say.
“I would have to say animal,” I say.

Starburst
Rainy enough to drown ducks. Two heron. One on the wall of the mill race channel, rare sighting there. Next a few yards away opposite side on inside bend at the picnic peninsula. The park staff and crew are here. Walk to the 9 marker and do some puddle-jumping. The previously mentioned white hairband on the walk at the 8 marker is now reshaped. It looks like the pacifiers that are droppped and left behind with increasing frequency throughout the spring. Like water, under the bridge.
Quick pick me up! A torn off piece of Starburst candy bag near red bridge, incorporated into today’s Sudoku Rebus. Star. Stay, Stayman apple, estate, start, state, stall, stamp. It’s a nine day, reds and stars are the order. Under the umbrella of helpful people and travel. As part of Last Minute Productions, working on PPA grant to get it in on time. I feel strongly about deadlines.

Re: Me
Enough already

Delta : change. And this, that and the other thing: Thanatos. What comes in between.
Elegance, with an edge. Marginal workers, marginal jobs.
Horses, music and art. Flowers and animals. People.
What is useful, beautiful and interesting?
