Stunning Nuts
Today is national bittersweet chocolate with almonds day and that sounds good if you like that sort of thing. There is not a heron to be seen this morning and when George and I meet, we talk cameras and picture taking. He says that a couple of days ago, he went home to fetch his Canon and came back by bicycle just to capture a digital image of a tree he saw growing out of a rock.
“Do you have your camera with you?” he asks.
”No, I’m sorry to report the lens on my Nikon is dissheveled and a lens error message keeps coming up. George suggests I change the memory card. Taking it to the shop will cost an arm and a leg.
This morning am well served at the grocery store. I drop the kitties’ water bowl which brings an end to an era. It was one of those glass vintage potato chip bowls with colored twine or string around it. Alas. On to the next thing.
So Often Tender, Fun to Do
Women are the strangest creatures the way they fly around. Myself included and I am unlike other women. Soft, yet hard to understand, something fit to be placed on Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Chalk to diamonds. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. We all fall down.
Monday set out some frames and fabric to fulfill request on Craigslist. When I returned home from swimming, the wanted objects had been picked up and it was a fabulous feeling to have met someone’s need. If only everything else were so simple.
This drawing began as the leaf I found and 13 for the day and ten for the month. “Of ten.” To add an ess and Soften it made all the ramifications possible. A heron flew over the creek and not far from the cuckoo’s nest.
Flea Market Junkie: Bastard Files and The Secret of Rosy Cheeks
Six day. Abandon routine in favor of flea market, sunny and clear. A friend has fed this habit by giving me a flea market guide; seems like a good day to try my luck. Go before seven. Back by ten. Finds listed as follows:
Post Card: $1.50 Postmarked 28 Sept. 1906. Depicts Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. Sender added a message on the front (picture) side: From Your Friend. I’ll see you on Saturday knight [sic]. Good by. S. W. A. K. Card was addressed on plain side to Miss Pearl Hammaker, New Buffalo, PA. One cent Ben Franklin stamp. Green.
Ledger: almost blank. Contains notes for tools/hardware. Fullest page: the F tab: Files. Example: 14″ Round Bastard with hatch marks five ten fifteen eighteen or nineteen. Is illegible, the ledger is. Also red carbon paper with typed something or other. Need to decipher.
Fishlove Adult Novelty item: The Secret of Rosy Cheeks.
Scrap book: 1930’s neatly pasted articles for P.O. D. class. Includes the start of Social Security.
Affluent Riddle
From the pork barrel: Sunday may be a day for the flea market. After consulting the flea market guide and Pennsy website, we have placed “Flue Cover” on the list of search items. If we find one, fine. If we find one decorated with a pig or pigs on it: dandy. What would you call such a thing?
Ether Bunny
Two herons fly from close to water , at least one goes up over the red covered bridge. Fifty degree temperatures and bright sun. Nice day for visiting. Dead trout under the foot bridge at 12 marker, but that’s just water over the dam. Come to think of it, one of the fishermen was casting upstream at the mill bridge, contrarian!
Shimmer and shake
Nine carz at *Bux drive-thru when I go past at 7:45 a.m. after making a right→ turn on red that was like a flying lead change. What a gold mine!
Bus 0544 turns corner→ right: catchy banner:”More than a ride.”
Walk time: Eight post: hear the heron first, the sound seems displaced from its body: like when you hear a jet and then search the sky for it. The heron is actually close by, shaking itself out near the near bank. Getting its stripes right.
Quiet. Few souls. At outset, Candelario was resting on the railroad ties at the bridge. (He took some miracle pills this summer, took a few too many and had been feeling unwell since.)
The sun’s reflection on the creek shimmers up onto the trunk of a tree, making a section of it look like a mirror. Unusual, that.
Return trip, Candelario has walked almost two miles, sitting on a bench.
“I’m peeling an orange,” he says.
“Healthy!” I say.
Near a bench on Tully turn, I am trying to decrypt scrawled letters in the path: a backwards S and c and h and a but it looks like: ζςμaΠπΝ and a runner says “Can I help you look for something?” ( Just the translation of this, the meaning of this.) and it’s kind of like GLWT, good luck with that. It could be school, Shannon or shame, to me.
On the radio, driving home, Mike and Mike talk about the 6 word poem submissions.
